The Final CountdownWeeks 1-4
Conception occurs and your baby begins as a tiny cluster of cells. You may not even know you're pregnant yet, but important development is already underway.
Weeks 5-8
Your baby's major organs begin to form. The heart starts beating and facial features begin to develop. Morning sickness may begin.
Weeks 9-13
Your baby is now officially a fetus. Fingers, toes, and facial features are distinct. Risk of miscarriage decreases significantly.
Weeks 14-17
Morning sickness often subsides and energy levels improve. Your baby can now make facial expressions and you may experience the "pregnancy glow".
Weeks 18-22
You'll likely feel your baby's first movements! The anomaly scan can reveal your baby's sex. You've reached the halfway point of your pregnancy.
Weeks 23-27
Your baby reaches viability - able to potentially survive outside the womb. Eyes can open and close, and movements become much stronger.
Weeks 28-32
Your baby's brain develops rapidly and they can respond to light and sound. Braxton Hicks contractions may start as your body prepares.
Weeks 33-36
Your baby continues to gain weight rapidly. Most organs are fully developed. Nesting instincts kick in as you prepare for baby's arrival.
Weeks 37-40+
Your baby is full-term at 37 weeks. Final preparations for birth occur. Baby drops lower in preparation for delivery and labour signs may begin.
